Starlink Internet Now Available on All Carnival Cruise Line Ships

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk reaches another milestone as Carnival Cruises announces that 100% of its ships now have high-speed internet from Musk’s Starlink. The installation on over 90 ships in Carnival’s global fleet aims to provide passengers with more reliable Wi-Fi, especially in remote areas of the route, and improve operational and communication capabilities for the ship’s staff.

Carnival Corporation CEO Josh Weinstein expressed excitement about the impact of Starlink on guest satisfaction and crew connectivity, calling it a “game-changer” for the onboard experience. The technology has already received positive feedback for its super-fast and reliable service.

The installation of Starlink on Carnival ships began in December 2022 and has now expanded to all of Carnival’s smaller companies, including Princess Cruises and Holland America Line. Musk himself shared the news on Twitter, simply stating, “Cool.”

Royal Caribbean has also started installing Starlink on its ships, with plans to upgrade more vessels from VOOM internet to Starlink. Despite higher prices, Carnival reported a strong Q1 2024, setting a record for first-quarter revenue at $5.4 billion and achieving all-time high booking volumes.

Weinstein highlighted the strong demand across Carnival’s brands and core deployments, leading to an upward revision of full-year expectations. As of Tuesday afternoon, Carnival’s stock was up nearly 41% year over year, reflecting the positive impact of the Starlink installation and strong financial performance.
