The Mifflin County softball team’s season came to an end in the District 6 Class 6A championship game against State College, with a final score of 6-1. Despite their best efforts, the Huskies were unable to overcome the top-seeded Little Lions.
State College took an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. The Huskies fought back with a solo home run from Jalee Bodtorf, but State College continued to dominate with strong offensive and defensive play.
Addie Harpster and Tori Kroboth each hit solo home runs for the Little Lions, extending their lead to 5-0 in the third inning. The Huskies managed to score one more run, but it wasn’t enough to overcome State College’s lead.
After the game, both coaches praised their teams for their hard work and dedication throughout the season. State College’s head coach, Shawn Herncane, commended his players for their improvement and teamwork, while Huskies head coach Craig Weston expressed pride in his team’s resilience and effort.
With this victory, State College advances to face the winner of District 8/10 in a subregional game on May 28. Despite the loss, the Huskies can hold their heads high knowing they gave their best effort until the very end.
