The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development is rolling out an exciting new initiative to promote cycling tourism in the state. With the launch of Bike Tennessee, cyclists are invited to explore 52 curated road cycling routes that showcase the scenic beauty and hidden gems of Tennessee.

Commissioner Mark Ezell of TDTD expressed excitement about the program, highlighting Tennessee’s rich storytelling tradition and the appeal of sustainable and authentic travel experiences. Partnering with Ride with GPS, Tennessee has made all 52 routes easily accessible through the popular cycling app, ensuring cyclists have detailed navigation and route information at their fingertips.

Professional cycling guide Shannon Burke of Velo View Bike Tours collaborated on the creation of the routes, which cover 1,739 miles and span 53 Tennessee counties. With safety and scenery in mind, the routes offer cyclists mostly rural, low-traffic experiences in some of Tennessee’s most picturesque and historic landscapes.

The program aims to leverage the growing cycling community to boost visitation and contribute to Tennessee’s outdoor recreation economy, which generates $11.9 billion for the state. Cyclists interested in exploring the Bike Tennessee routes can visit BikeTN.com for more information.

With its diverse terrain, welcoming communities, and commitment to sustainable tourism, Tennessee is poised to become a premier cycling destination in the country. Whether seasoned cyclists or newcomers to the sport, riders are encouraged to hop on a bike and discover the beauty of Tennessee’s countryside.
