Stephan Jaeger wins first PGA Tour title at Houston Open, ending Scottie Scheffler’s win streak | Golf News

Germany’s Stephan Jaeger claimed his first PGA Tour title in the Texas Children’s Houston Open, edging out Scottie Scheffler who was aiming for a third straight victory. Jaeger, part of a five-way tie for the lead heading into the final round, carded a closing 67 to secure the win.

Scheffler, the world No 1, had to settle for a share of second place with defending champion Tony Finau, Thomas Detry, Taylor Moore, and Alejandro Tosti. Jaeger’s steady play, with four birdies and a bogey on the front nine followed by nine straight pars, proved to be enough to secure the victory.

In a dramatic finish, Jaeger narrowly missed a birdie putt on the last hole, but Scheffler’s surprising miss from around six feet sealed the victory for the German golfer. Jaeger praised Scheffler’s performance, acknowledging his opponent’s exceptional play throughout the tournament.

Scheffler expressed disappointment in his missed opportunity on the 18th hole, attributing it to a misread. Detry, who also missed out on the title, reflected on his missed opportunities and the challenges he faced during the final round.

The Masters, exclusively live on Sky Sports from April 11-14, promises more thrilling golf action for fans. Stay tuned for more updates and coverage of the PGA Tour and other major golf events on Sky Sports.
