Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, continues to solidify its reputation as a national leader in legal education with the recent announcement of its Trial Advocacy program retaining the No. 1 ranking and the Legal Writing program maintaining its No. 3 spot in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2025.
Dean Benjamin Barros expressed his gratitude for the recognition, highlighting the school’s dedication to preparing students for successful legal careers. The College of Law’s full-time JD program ranked No. 98, while its part-time JD program secured the No. 30 spot.
The College of Law’s commitment to advocacy is further exemplified by the recent opening of the Advocacy Institute, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to honing students’ lawyering skills. With a focus on competitive advocacy, pro bono work, and immersive experiences like clinics and externships, students are equipped to excel in various legal settings.
Law Professor Elizabeth Boals, director of the Center for Excellence in Advocacy, praised the students’ hard work and dedication to representing Stetson Law at advocacy team competitions worldwide.
In addition to its advocacy prowess, Stetson Law’s Legal Writing program’s consistent ranking at No. 3 underscores the school’s emphasis on developing strong legal communication skills. Faculty Director Kirsten Davis, a national leader in legal writing and artificial intelligence, was recently honored with the Technology Mentorship Award by the American Association of Law Schools Section on Technology, Law, & Legal Education.
