Hyundai Motor India has achieved a significant milestone by recording its highest-ever sales in the fiscal year 2023-24. The automaker reported a 7 per cent increase in total sales for the month of March, with 65,601 units sold compared to 61,500 units in March 2023. Domestic dispatches also saw a 5 per cent growth, reaching 53,001 units in March 2024.

The success story continued for Mahindra & Mahindra as well, with a 13 per cent growth in passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market. The overall wholesales for the company increased by 4 per cent in March, totaling 68,413 units. Veejay Nakra, President of M&M Automotive Division, expressed satisfaction with the performance, highlighting the achievement of Mahindra PikUps crossing 2 lakh units during the year.

In contrast, MG Motor India experienced a 23 per cent decline in retail sales for the month of March, with 4,648 units sold compared to 6,051 units in the same period last year. However, the company managed to achieve a 14 per cent growth in sales for the entire fiscal year 2023-24.

Meanwhile, Tata International made a significant announcement by appointing Rajeev Singhal as the Managing Director of the firm, effective from April 1, 2024. This move follows the retirement of Anand Sen, the former MD.

Overall, the Indian automotive industry witnessed a mix of successes and challenges in March, reflecting the dynamic nature of the market. The performance of these key players sets the tone for the industry’s outlook in the coming months.
