Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a stunning six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in a high-scoring thriller in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. Marcus Stoinis’ brilliant century overshadowed Ruturaj Gaikwad’s impressive hundred in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Chasing a mammoth target of 211, Lucknow got off to a shaky start with their openers departing early. However, Stoinis played a sensational knock, scoring an unbeaten 124 off just 63 balls, including 13 fours and six sixes. His innings turned the game around for Lucknow as they successfully chased down the target with three balls to spare.
Stoinis’ century, his first in the IPL, was the highest individual score in an IPL run-chase, showcasing his class and composure under pressure. He was well-supported by Nicholas Pooran, who smashed 34 off 15 balls, and Deepak Hooda, who remained unbeaten on 17.
On the other hand, Gaikwad’s brilliant century for Chennai went in vain as Lucknow emerged victorious. Gaikwad’s knock of 108 not out off 56 balls, along with Shivam Dube’s quickfire 66 off 27 balls, powered Chennai to a formidable total of 210-4.
With this win, Lucknow climbed to fourth place in the IPL standings, while Chennai slipped to fifth. The match was a true spectacle of T20 cricket, with both teams displaying exceptional batting performances.
