Strategies for CSK, SRH & RR to secure top two spots in IPL 2024

Reading Time: < 1 minute

KKR have become the first team to officially qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2024, but the race for the top two spots is still wide open. With KKR virtually sealing one of the top two spots, the focus now shifts to who their potential opponent in Qualifier 1 will be.

Currently, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Chennai Super Kings are the main teams in contention for the top two spots along with KKR. Let’s take a look at what these teams need to do to secure a top-two finish.

Rajasthan Royals currently have 16 points and can reach a maximum of 22 points. Winning all their remaining three games will seal the top spot for RR, while winning two of their next three games will also be enough to secure a top-two finish.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, have accumulated 14 points and can reach a maximum of 18 points. If they win their remaining two games and RR lose at least two of their three remaining games, both teams will end up with 18 points, and the team with the better net run rate will take the second spot.

Chennai Super Kings have 12 points and can reach a maximum of 16 points by winning their remaining two games. They can claim the second spot if RR lose their remaining three games and SRH lose both their remaining games. If SRH win even one of their two remaining games, CSK can only finish in the top two by virtue of net run rate.

With the competition heating up, the race for the top two spots in IPL 2024 is sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats until the end of the league stage.
