Strong Start for Men’s Tennis at NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships on Sunday

St. Louis, MO – The Tufts University men’s tennis team may have ended their season with a tough loss in the NCAA Quarterfinals, but two of their players are still making waves in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. Sophomore Alex Genchev and junior Vuk Vuksanovic are representing the Jumbos in the prestigious tournament hosted by Washington University.

Vuksanovic had an impressive first day, winning two matches to secure a spot in the quarterfinal round. He defeated Luke VanDonslear of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Dylan Walters of Brandeis University in straight sets. Despite a setback in the first set against Walters, Vuksanovic rallied back to win the match in three sets.

In doubles competition, Vuksanovic teamed up with Genchev to face off against a tough duo from Case Western Reserve University. After a tense first set that went to a tie-breaker, the Jumbos pair dominated the third set to secure a victory and advance to the quarterfinals.

With three wins under his belt, Vuksanovic is set to face Andreas Sillaste of Amherst College in the singles quarterfinals. The duo of Vuksanovic and Genchev will also compete in the doubles quarterfinals against Aiden Drover-Mattinen and Andy Zhu of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
