Tech Interactive in San Jose Hosts National AI Literacy Day Event

The Tech Interactive in San Jose was buzzing with excitement as more than 1,100 students, teachers, and administrators gathered for National AI Literacy Day. The event aimed to educate the community about artificial intelligence and its impact on schools and society.

Esmerelda Tovar, the computer science education manager at the Tech, emphasized the importance of AI literacy in education. She highlighted the need for students to develop skills related to AI to be successful in the future.

The event featured panel discussions, interactive exhibits, and hands-on activities for students of all ages. Children were able to explore the world of AI through exhibits like Animaker, which uses AI and machine learning to engage and educate.

Tech Interactive CEO Katrina Stevens shared valuable insights for parents on how to introduce AI to their children. She emphasized the importance of explaining what AI is and its limitations, as well as encouraging critical thinking and skepticism when interacting with AI technologies.

In addition to the activities at the Tech Interactive, similar events were held in New York City and Washington, D.C. U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten commended the Tech Interactive for its leadership in promoting AI literacy on the West Coast.

The event showcased the fun and creative applications of AI, including a “Talk Box” that generates images based on spoken words and an AI robot artist that creates portraits from photos. The event aimed to inspire and educate the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers in the field of artificial intelligence.
