Pro-Palestinian Demonstrators Arrested at New York University Spark Controversy

In a series of events that have sparked controversy and debate, police arrested several pro-Palestinian demonstrators at New York University for trespassing. This comes after similar arrests at Yale and Columbia University in recent days. Republican senators Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley have called on President Joe Biden to send the National Guard to Columbia University to handle the protests, while other lawmakers are demanding the resignation of Columbia’s president, Minouche Shafik.

Meanwhile, in other news, the Senate is set to hold a preliminary vote on Tuesday afternoon to consider four bills passed by the House, including one that includes $61 billion in aid for Ukraine. Another bill aimed at forcing the sale of TikTok, a Chinese-owned app, is expected to face legal challenges.

The Biden administration has also issued a regulation preventing law enforcement officials from accessing women’s medical records in cases of legal abortion, aiming to protect women from potential investigations if they seek the procedure in states where it is banned.

In a separate development, the Supreme Court has announced it will consider whether “ghost guns” – firearms sold as assemble-at-home kits – can be regulated by the federal government. This case is expected to be heard in the autumn.

Overall, these developments highlight the ongoing tensions and debates surrounding various issues in the United States, from protests and arrests to legislative actions and legal challenges.
