Suffolk IDA appoints Kelly Murphy as new CEO

Kelly Murphy has been appointed as the new executive director and CEO of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency, following a successful tenure as the acting executive director. With over nine years of experience at the IDA, Murphy has played a pivotal role in closing over 100 transactions totaling more than $1.4 billion in private capital investment.

During her time at the IDA, Murphy has been instrumental in establishing and retaining approximately 7,300 jobs with combined annual salaries of around $1.6 billion. Her strategic initiatives have focused on building key relationships with government, business, and local communities, leading to additional investments in downtowns and commuter areas within Suffolk County.

Prior to her role at the IDA, Murphy served as the assistant to the Suffolk County deputy county executive and commissioner of economic development and planning. She also played a crucial role in the redevelopment of the Garvies Point mixed-use project in the City of Glen Cove, securing over $100 million in public and private investments.

In addition to her role at the IDA, Murphy is actively involved in various boards and committees, including the Suffolk County Workforce Development Board and the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council. She is a graduate of Molloy College’s Energeia Partnership, Class of 2016.

With Murphy’s extensive experience and proven track record in economic development, her appointment as the new executive director and CEO of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency is set to bring continued success and growth to the region.
