Summer Sports Performance Programs for Youth Athletes at Henry Mayo Fitness & Health

Reading Time: < 1 minute

As summer approaches, many young athletes are gearing up for Fall and Winter sports by participating in sports-specific camps and focusing on improving their strength and conditioning. Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Club is offering a variety of summer sports performance programs tailored to different age groups, all held in the club’s Performance Institute.

The programs are led by degreed and certified coaches who guide participants through proper warm-ups, speed training, strength training, and stretching exercises. Each program focuses on movement education, injury prevention, acceleration and deceleration training, agility, power, and functional strength and conditioning.

For youth athletes aged 8-12, the Youth Sports Performance Program introduces physical fitness and sport performance training through a “Learn to Train” model. Middle school athletes aged 11-14 can join the Middle School Sports Performance Program to build foundations for athletic development. High school athletes aged 14-18 can benefit from the High School Sports Performance Program, which aims to improve strength, speed, and power.

Additionally, Henry Mayo Fitness and Health is partnering with Henry Mayo Physical Therapy to offer Injury Prevention Clinics to local high schools. These clinics focus on coaching proper posture and motor control, acceleration and deceleration techniques, and cutting skills to reduce the risk of injuries such as ankle sprains and knee injuries.

Athletes can sign up for these programs and clinics on the Henry Mayo website. The clinics cost $20 per athlete, with 50% of the proceeds going back to each school’s athletic training program. This summer, young athletes have the opportunity to enhance their skills, prevent injuries, and prepare for a successful sports season ahead.
