Reading Time: < 1 minute

Sun Country Airlines is making a bold move to cater to winter-weary travelers from the Upper Midwest by adding two new routes to the Caribbean in early 2025. The Minneapolis-based carrier announced this week that it will connect Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport with Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Starting on December 26, 2024, Sun Country will offer twice-weekly service to Punta Cana, followed by two weekly flights to Montego Bay beginning on January 25, 2025. With a monopoly on all its nonstop international routes from Milwaukee, the airline is poised to attract a steady stream of passengers looking for a warm-weather escape.

In addition to the new Caribbean routes, Sun Country will also resume service from Milwaukee to Mexico’s Cancun International Airport, further expanding its reach in the region. With a total of eight routes from Milwaukee, including popular destinations like Las Vegas, Minneapolis, and Orlando, Sun Country is positioning itself as a top choice for leisure travelers in the area.

The airline’s extended schedule through April 29, 2025, gives travelers ample time to plan their winter and spring break getaways. Sun Country’s focus on warm destinations and leisure travel aligns with its strategy to cater to vacationers and visiting friends and family. With a growing network and enhanced digital capabilities through its new mobile app, Sun Country is set to make a splash in the travel industry in the coming year.
