Sunil Gavaskar’s Glowing Praise for Rohit Sharma Following Impressive 68-Run Knock against LSG

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Rohit Sharma’s impressive performance in Mumbai Indians’ last game of the IPL season against Lucknow Super Giants has garnered praise from former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar. Despite the loss, Sharma’s 38-ball 68 runs innings was described as “very heartening” by Gavaskar.

The match between Mumbai and Lucknow was a dead rubber clash as both teams had already been eliminated from playoff contention. Lucknow set a formidable total of 214/6, with Nicholas Pooran’s explosive 75 runs off 29 deliveries being a standout performance.

Gavaskar commended Sharma’s batting display, emphasizing the importance of the Indian captain setting the team off to a good start. Despite the challenging target, Sharma’s aggressive approach gave Mumbai Indians a strong start in the game.

Following the IPL season, Sharma will join the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup in the United States. The first batch of players, including Sharma, will depart on June 24, with the second batch joining after the conclusion of the IPL playoffs on May 26.

Sharma’s form and leadership will be crucial for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, and his performance in the IPL has set a positive tone for the team’s campaign. Despite the disappointment of missing out on the playoffs, Sharma’s resilience and skill on the field have not gone unnoticed.
