Surface low pressure to extend over UAE from Wednesday evening to Thursday

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is bracing for a bout of stormy weather as a surface low-pressure system from the Red Sea, combined with moist southeast winds, is set to bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to the region. The National Center of Meteorology has issued a warning for Wednesday and Thursday, stating that the country will experience various cloud formations, including cumulonimbus clouds, along with lightning and thunder, and the possibility of hail.

According to the weather forecast from Sunday 28 April to Saturday 4 May 2024, the UAE will see convective rainy clouds forming over eastern areas, with a chance of hail extending to some internal and western areas. The situation is expected to escalate from Wednesday evening to Thursday, with the country being affected by the convergence of low-pressure systems from the Red Sea and the northwest, leading to heavy rainfall in scattered areas, particularly in the western regions, coasts, and some eastern areas.

As the week progresses, the amount of clouds is expected to decrease gradually on Friday and Saturday, with a continued chance of light to moderate rainfall, possibly heavy in some southern and eastern areas. Winds are forecasted to be moderate to fresh, ranging from southeasterly to northeasterly, with the potential to become strong at times, especially in the presence of convective clouds, leading to blowing dust and sand and reduced visibility.

In terms of sea conditions, the waters are expected to be moderate to rough, particularly with the presence of clouds in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. Residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on the latest weather alerts and advisories.

The upcoming weather pattern is a result of the convergence of multiple weather systems, creating an unstable atmospheric environment conducive to the formation of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The National Center of Meteorology is closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates to ensure the safety of the public.

As the UAE prepares for the inclement weather ahead, it is essential for individuals to take necessary precautions, such as avoiding outdoor activities during thunderstorms, securing loose objects, and staying informed through official channels. Stay tuned for further updates on the evolving weather situation in the UAE.
