Swedish authorities to probe alleged leaks of information to violent gangs

An investigation in Sweden has uncovered a shocking revelation that police employees have been leaking confidential information to gang members with whom they have had sexual relations. The report, published by newspaper Dagens Nyheter, detailed how at least 30 police employees were considered “security risks” and either resigned or were forced to quit due to their involvement with criminals.

The leaks included sensitive information about enemies of gang members, which in some cases led to revenge attacks and even murders. The report also highlighted how criminals had strategically targeted police officers for sexual relationships in order to gain access to confidential information.

The Director of the Financial Crime Prevention agency, Advisense, Louise Brown, compared the tactics used by gangs to “mafia methods” and expressed concern over the infiltration of criminals into the public sector.

In response to the revelations, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed his concern over the “very serious” situation and vowed to take action. Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer announced a meeting with police leadership to discuss the leaks and potential measures to counteract the infiltration of criminal elements within the police force.

Sweden has been grappling with a surge in violence in recent years as criminal gangs fight for control of drug markets, leading to frequent bombings and shootings. The latest revelations have raised serious concerns about the integrity of the justice system and the need for stronger measures to combat organized crime in the country.
