Memphis Tourism brought the soul, blues, and rock ‘n’ roll to Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on 15 May 2024 with an exclusive performance featuring Hi Rhythm Section, Boo Mitchell, Lina Beach, and Jerome Chism. The event, in partnership with United Airlines and Cosmos, was a hit among industry insiders gearing up for the annual Blues on Broadbeach festival on the Gold Coast.
Hi Rhythm Section’s producer, Boo Mitchell, made history by winning Memphis’ first Record of the Year Grammy for “Uptown Funk” in 2016. Singer-songwriter Lina Beach and soul singer Jerome Chism also wowed the crowd with their performances, celebrating 10 years of the acclaimed documentary “Take Me to the River.”
The highlight of the evening was Flight Centre Senior Consultant Penny Baker winning a trip for two to Memphis, including flights on United Airlines and a stay at the iconic Peabody Memphis Hotel. Memphis Tourism Director Chris Ingram expressed his excitement at the industry turnout, thanking partners for their support.
The event showcased the best of Memphis’ music industry and offered a sneak peek into the city’s vibrant culture.
