Taiwan spots 62 Chinese military aircraft and 27 vessels near its borders | Global Updates

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Taiwan Ministry of Defence raised alarms on Saturday as it detected a significant Chinese military presence around the nation, with a large number of military aircraft and vessels operating in the vicinity. According to the ministry, 62 China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and 27 China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels were seen in the area, with 47 of the aircraft crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entering Taiwan’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).

In response to the situation, Taiwan’s armed forces closely monitored the activities and responded accordingly. The US State Department also expressed concern and stated that it was monitoring the situation closely in coordination with Taiwan after Beijing launched military exercises in the Taiwan Strait and surrounding areas.

The Ministry of National Defense in Taiwan emphasized that the Chinese Communist Party’s military exercises, indicative of its hegemonic mindset, have undermined regional peace and stability. Despite Taiwan’s reluctance to engage in conflict, the ROC Armed Forces affirmed their readiness to defend the country and stated that they would not shy away from any aggression.

The international community has been called upon to condemn China’s actions, which have been deemed irrational by Taiwan. The situation remains tense as both Taiwan and the US closely monitor the activities of the Chinese military in the region to ensure peace and stability.
