Talent Identification Program of Kentucky Hosts Recognition Ceremony at Van Meter Auditorium

The Talent Identification Program of Kentucky (TIP-KY) Recognition Ceremony at Western Kentucky University was a celebration of academic excellence for over 180 talented students in grades 4 – 8. The event, held in the prestigious Van Meter Auditorium, honored students who scored at high levels on above-level assessments.

Julia Roberts, executive director of The Center for Gifted Studies, and Dean David Brown welcomed students and families to WKU, where they were treated to a special message from the Kentucky Department of Education and a keynote address by Brigitte Blom, President and CEO of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence. Awardees were presented with medals by Tyler Clark, Assistant Director of Operations of The Center for Gifted Studies.

The ceremony, which attracted approximately 400 students and their families, was a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young scholars. The Center for Gifted Studies expressed their gratitude to the educators, families, and individuals who made TIP-KY a reality, providing valuable resources and enrichment programming for academically talented students.

TIP-KY offers above-level testing to assess students’ academic abilities and guide them towards appropriate resources and services. Eligible students in grades 4 – 6 can take the I-Excel test, while students in grades 7 – 8 can take the ACT. The program aims to challenge and encourage growth in academically talented students.
