Taylor Swift has surprised fans with the release of a “secret double album” titled ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. The pop superstar dropped the bombshell just hours after releasing her 11th studio record at midnight on Friday.

In a social media post, Taylor revealed that the album now includes a second installment of 15 extra songs, making it an “Anthology”. She explained, “I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of ‘TTPD: The Anthology’. And now the story isn’t mine anymore … it’s all yours.”

The double album now features a total of 31 songs, including bonus tracks like ‘The Manuscript’, ‘The Bolter’, ‘The Albatross’, and ‘The Black Dog’. Taylor shared that the album reflects a period of her life that is now over, with no scores to settle once wounds have healed.

Many speculate that the songs on the album explore Taylor’s past relationships, including her doomed romance with actor Joe Alwyn and her brief fling with Matty Healy. In an Instagram post, Taylor described the album as an anthology of new works that reflect a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time.

Fans are excited to delve into the “tortured poetry” that Taylor has poured into this double album, eagerly anticipating the emotional journey that awaits them.
