TCU Men’s Tennis Makes History with First NCAA National Championship Win

In a thrilling showdown in Stillwater, OK, the TCU Men’s Tennis team secured their first-ever NCAA National Championship title by defeating the 2-seed Texas Longhorns on Sunday night. The 4-seed Horned Frogs had a dominant run throughout the tournament, sweeping through their first four rounds by defeating UC Irvine, Cornell, Duke, and Kentucky to reach the Semifinals.

Facing off against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Final Four, a team that had previously bested them in the 2023 Semifinal and the 2024 ITA Indoor National Championship Final, TCU emerged victorious to advance to the title game against the familiar foe of the Texas Longhorns.

The Championship match opened with TCU taking the early advantage by earning the Doubles Point, setting the stage for an intense battle in the Singles matches. After trading victories, the match came down to Court 5 where TCU’s Sebastian Gorzny fought tooth and nail against Texas’ Jonah Braswell. In a tense final set, Gorzny displayed his power serve and composure under pressure to secure the decisive points and clinch the National Championship for TCU.

With this historic win, Coach David Roditi’s squad has now secured a national championship for three consecutive seasons, adding the NCAA National Championship to their previous victories in the ITA Indoor National Championship in 2022 and 2023. The TCU Men’s Tennis team has solidified their place in program history with this remarkable achievement.
