TCU Men’s Tennis Dominates NCAA Regionals, Advances to Super Regionals
The TCU Men’s Tennis team showcased their dominance last weekend as they hosted an NCAA Regional and swept their way to the Super Regionals. The Frogs started off strong with a 4-0 sweep against UC Irvine in the regional semifinals. Key wins in doubles from Jake Fearnley, Pedro Vives, Lui Maxted, and Duncan Chan set the tone for the match, while singles victories from Maxted, Jack Pinnington, and Fearnley secured the win for TCU.
In the regional finals, TCU faced off against No. 35-ranked Cornell and once again came out on top with another 4-0 sweep. The Frogs claimed the doubles point with impressive performances from Pinnington, Sebastian Gorzny, Chan, and Maxted. Singles wins from Tomas Jirousek, Pinnington, and Fearnley sealed the deal for TCU, sending them to the Super Regionals.
In the NCAA Super Regional against Duke, TCU continued their winning streak with a commanding 4-0 shutout. Fearnley and Vives set the tone with a notable win in doubles, followed by strong performances from Pinnington, Gorzny, and Maxted in singles.
With their eyes set on redemption after a loss in the Indoor National Championship final earlier this year, the No. 4-seeded Frogs will face off against the No. 5-seeded Kentucky Wildcats in the NCAA Outdoor Quarterfinals. The match is set to take place in Stillwater on May 16 and will be aired on ESPN+ at 1:30 pm. TCU Men’s Tennis is on a roll and determined to make a statement in the upcoming championship rounds.
