The Western Dakota Association (WDA) baseball tournament kicked off in Minot with eight teams braving the rainy weather on Thursday, May 23. Despite the less-than-ideal conditions, the action on the field was nothing short of exciting.

In the first game of the day, Minot High faced off against Bismarck High and came out on top with a commanding 14-4 victory. Minot High got off to a strong start, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding three more runs in both the second and third innings. Junior Easton Panesuk and senior Parker Hann were key players in the Magicians’ offensive onslaught.

On the defensive side, Minot High’s pitchers held Bismarck High to just four runs, with junior Carson Deaver, K Burke, and Jagger Swartwout all contributing solid performances on the mound. The Magicians’ offense was firing on all cylinders, going 13-for-28 at the plate with only one error.

In other tournament action, Williston narrowly defeated Dickinson 4-3, while Mandan secured an 11-6 victory over Bismarck Century. Bismarck Legacy also emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Jamestown, although no specific details were provided for that game.
