Teen from Alberta launches job matching service for young athletes

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Fifteen-year-old soccer enthusiast Tristan Longworth has found a unique way to support young athletes in pursuing their sports dreams. Longworth, who has traveled to soccer clubs in Portugal and Italy to enhance his skills, understands the financial struggles that come with funding such trips.

To address this issue, Longworth founded Game Plan Services, a business aimed at connecting young athletes with work opportunities in their community. The business model allows athletes to earn quick money while balancing their school and sports commitments. Instead of traditional part-time jobs that may consume their entire day, Game Plan offers flexible options like landscaping, dog walking, and community assistance.

Starting with just a few teammates, Longworth has grown Game Plan into a team of over 50 members within a year. Through marketing efforts like door-knocking and social media campaigns, he has successfully matched athletes with customers seeking their services. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with athletes earning anywhere from $15 to $30 per hour.

One of the athletes benefiting from Game Plan is Velia Shute, who found work coaching power skating through the platform. She praises the opportunity it provides for student athletes to earn money consistently throughout the year. Another customer, Astrid Casavant, appreciates the help Game Plan provides with maintaining her acreage while forming meaningful connections with the young athletes.

Longworth’s ultimate goal is to expand Game Plan across Canada, but for now, he is focused on making a positive impact in St. Albert and Edmonton. Through his business, he hopes to not only support young athletes financially but also foster relationships between them and the community. As he continues to grow Game Plan, Longworth remains dedicated to providing a helping hand to those in need.
