Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings has hit a home run with its mobile game “Dungeon and Fighter,” which has taken the top spot on Apple’s App Store in China this week. The game, developed by South Korea’s Nexon and published by Tencent, has quickly become a sensation, surpassing the company’s existing flagship games.
Since its launch on May 21, “Dungeon and Fighter” has dominated the charts, outperforming Tencent’s popular titles like “Honor of Kings” and “Peacekeeper Elites.” Globally, the game ranked as the world’s second top-selling app last week, only behind TikTok.
According to app tracking platform Appmagic, “Dungeon and Fighter” has generated over $40 million in revenue on Apple devices, with more than 2.4 million downloads. Analysts believe that the game’s success is on track to meet Nexon’s expectation of 3 billion yuan in gross billings during its first month of launch.
Officially named “Dungeon and Fighter: Origin,” the game is a mobile adaptation of the highly profitable computer game of the same name. Despite facing delays in its China release due to government regulations on the gaming industry, the game has proven to be a massive hit among players.
With its engaging gameplay and loyal fan base, “Dungeon and Fighter” is poised to continue its success and solidify Tencent’s position as a leading player in the mobile gaming market.
