App State Tennis Set to Face James Madison in Sun Belt Tournament Second Round

ROME, GA. – The App State Tennis team is gearing up to take on No. 10 seeded James Madison in the second round of the Sun Belt Tournament on Thursday. This match comes after the Dukes secured a 5-2 victory over the Mountaineers in their Sun Belt opener on March 9.

The upcoming match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with the live stats link available on appstatesports.com. The showdown is set to take place in Rome, Ga. at 2 p.m.

App State wrapped up their regular season with three players boasting double-digit wins. Savannah Dada-Mascoll led the team with 16 singles and 12 doubles victories, Maggie Pate with 13 singles and 11 doubles wins, and Naledi Manyube with 11 singles wins and six conference wins.

On the other side, James Madison enters the tournament on a five-match losing streak, including defeats against ranked opponents Old Dominion and VCU. Daria Munteanu and Ines Oliveira led the Dukes with double-digit wins in singles play.

In their previous encounter, Dada-Mascoll and Powell secured the Mountaineers’ only points against James Madison. However, the Dukes managed to claim the victory in both singles and doubles play.

Looking ahead, a win on Thursday would set App State up to face No. 2 seed Marshall in the quarterfinals. The Mountaineers will be seeking redemption after falling to the Thundering Herd earlier in the season.
