Terrifying Near Miss Crash Captured on Dashcam Video on Hwy. 11 in Timmins

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A dramatic chain reaction on a northern Ontario highway was caught on video Thursday, leaving several people shaken but thankfully unharmed. The incident unfolded on Highway 11 near Matheson after a red transport towing two trailers caught fire and quickly pulled over, causing a trio of vehicles to stop on the shoulder.

Paulette Souriol, who was behind the truck in a white passenger vehicle, described the harrowing experience on social media, saying she thought she was going to die in that moment. Dashcam footage captured by a commercial truck driver shows several transports swerving into oncoming traffic to avoid the stopped vehicles.

The video, posted by Skilled Truckers of Canada, has garnered over 116,000 views in less than 24 hours, with viewers praising the driver’s quick reflexes in avoiding a potential disaster. However, some commenters criticized the reckless driving of other motorists who failed to maintain a safe distance and react appropriately to the situation.

While some defended the truck driver who had to pull over due to the fire, others pointed out the importance of staying alert and leaving enough space between vehicles on the highway. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the road and the need for drivers to exercise caution and patience in such situations.
