Speaking at a National Workshop for Entrepreneurship Educators in Nigerian Polytechnics and Similar TVET institutions, Echono highlighted the need for a curriculum that focuses on critical thinking, risk-taking, and identifying opportunities using individuals’ skills and resources.

Echono commended the committee of rectors for their efforts in reviewing the curriculum to incorporate entrepreneurship education beyond just starting small businesses. He stressed that entrepreneurship is key to creating value, promoting employment, and ultimately changing the country for the better.

Similarly, the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Bugaje, reiterated the importance of entrepreneurship development in addressing youth unemployment. Bugaje emphasized that entrepreneurship plays a critical role in enabling graduates to either find employment or become independent entrepreneurs.

The workshop, themed “Mastering Entrepreneurial Skills Development Modules,” is being organized across the six geo-political zones of the country. Bugaje highlighted the difference between entrepreneurship and skills development programs, noting that entrepreneurship education is essential for graduates to become successful entrepreneurs and employers.

The focus on entrepreneurship and skills development in educational institutions is seen as a crucial step towards empowering Nigerian youths to create jobs and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
