The Gayming Awards 2024 is set to air on June 25 as part of IGN’s Summer of Gaming event, showcasing the best in LGBTQ representation in the gaming industry. The event, produced by Nathan Noyes and Ian Devoglaer, will feature the Gayming Icon Award and the LGBTQ Streamer Rising Star Class of 2024, sponsored by TikTok, Devolver Digital, and Logitech G.
This year, the Gayming Icon Award will be presented to Dungeons & Dragons lead rules designer Jeremy Crawford for his contributions to LGBTQ inclusion in the iconic game. The Rising Star Class will honor up-and-coming queer content creators, including Devoglaer, PearlTeese, SimplyAretha, Sukar Baba, and sinarynn.
Robin Gray, the creator of the Gayming Awards, expressed excitement for the event, stating, “Despite the challenges that 2024 has presented to us and to the wider games industry, I’m thrilled we can finally announce the winners of the Gayming Awards 2024!” The event will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, making Crawford’s recognition even more special.
The nominations for the 2024 Gayming Awards include categories such as Game of the Year, Industry Diversity Award, Authentic Representation Award, Best LGBTQ+ Character Award, and more. The event aims to highlight the diverse and inclusive nature of the gaming industry and celebrate the contributions of LGBTQ individuals in gaming.
