The Andersons of Polk State: A Family Celebration of Graduation on May 2

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Andersons, a family of three, have turned their home into a study hub as they all pursue their education at Polk State College. Sharon and Gregory Anderson are set to graduate on May 2, with Sharon earning her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Gregory completing his Associate in Arts degree.

Sharon’s decision to further her education was driven by a desire to advance her 20-year career in childcare and to set an example for her children. Her dedication inspired her daughter, Jordyn, to enroll in Polk State as a dual enrollment student, and even motivated her husband, Gregory, to return to school after many years to complete his degree.

The family’s journey has been a collaborative effort, with each member supporting and motivating the others. They have even had some of the same teachers and study together at home. Sharon credits Polk State’s professors and advisors for providing the guidance and resources necessary for her success, emphasizing the school’s supportive and familial atmosphere.

While Sharon and Gregory will graduate this year, Jordyn will continue her education as a dual enrollment student at Winter Haven High School. The Andersons are looking forward to celebrating their accomplishments together and are proud of the hard work and dedication that has brought them to this moment. Sharon expressed gratitude for her family’s support and the pride they have in her achievements, highlighting the significance of this shared milestone for their family.
