Americans are finding joy in the simple things in life, with a new study revealing that the average person experiences 10 extraordinary days per month. The survey, conducted by Talker Research and commissioned by Santa Margherita, polled 2,000 American wine drinkers to uncover their views on living a joyful lifestyle.
According to the findings, 74% of respondents believe that living a joyful lifestyle is subjective and unique to each individual. However, there were common themes among what defines a joyful life, including feeling happy, being healthy, having positive personal and family relationships, and feeling comfortable.
The survey also delved into how Americans treat themselves and found that half of respondents believe that “any day is a good day” to indulge. Whether it’s their birthday, a vacation, or just a good day, many Americans enjoy treating themselves to something special. The study also revealed that people prefer sharing their joyful moments with family and friends, with 76% saying they like to share their positive feelings with others.
When it comes to vacations, respondents shared their top choices for travel destinations, with Italy, the UK, and Japan ranking high on the list. Those who chose Italy as their preferred destination cited reasons such as experiencing the food, culture, and wine of the country.
In terms of indulgences, respondents identified a nice meal and a nice beverage as the perfect treats for an extraordinary day. Wine, in particular, was a popular choice, with red wine, white wine, and beer being the most indulgent beverages. Over 70% of respondents said that indulgences like these are best shared with others, especially significant others, family members, and close friends.
The survey also explored the preferences of American wine drinkers when it comes to different types of wine. Italy was found to have the nicest quality wine, according to 67% of respondents, followed by France, America, and Spain. Different states also shared their favorite luxury Italian wines, with Rosé, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Prosecco, and Chianti being popular choices in various regions.
Overall, the survey highlighted the importance of sharing experiences with loved ones and savoring the simple pleasures in life. Jane Scott, Marketing Vice President at Santa Margherita USA, emphasized the role of wine in connecting people and creating memorable moments.
The survey methodology involved 2,000 Americans aged 21 and older who spend at least $20 on a bottle of wine and drink wine. The data was collected between April 25 and May 13, 2024, by Talker Research, a market research company with members of the Market Research Society and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research.
In conclusion, the study sheds light on the ways in which Americans find joy in their daily lives and the importance of sharing those moments with others. Whether it’s enjoying a nice meal with a glass of wine or exploring a new destination, people are embracing the extraordinary moments that make life special.
