The Montana State women’s tennis team is gearing up for an exciting showdown as they close out their regular season schedule by hosting Montana on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
With a current three-match winning streak and seven wins in their last eight matches, the Bobcats (13-5, 4-3) are on fire. Junior standout Marta Garcia-Reboredo leads the team at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, boasting an impressive 11-7 record in singles and a 12-6 record in doubles with partner Hudson Hawkins.
Despite being one of the youngest teams in the league, the Bobcats have shown great promise with freshmen making significant contributions. Players like Paula Dougherty and Meg McCarty have been instrumental in the team’s success, with Hawkins dominating at the No. 6 spot.
Their opponents, Montana, come into the match with a 7-11 overall record and a 5-2 record in league play. Sophomore Hailey Murphy has been a force to be reckoned with, boasting a perfect 7-0 record at No. 1 singles in Big Sky action.
As the Bobcats prepare to celebrate Senior Day, honoring Jazmin Lerman and Felicia Jayasaputra, head coach Suzie Woodburn is excited for one last opportunity to play at home. With a spot already secured in the Big Sky Tournament, the Bobcats are looking to finish the regular season strong and potentially secure a share of the BSC title with a win over Montana.
