The CCIW Women’s Tennis Tournament Begins on Thursday

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Tennis Tournament is set to kick off at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Ill. on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. The tournament will be hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University and will feature four quarterfinal matches on the first day.

The defending champion, North Central, enters the tournament as the top seed after winning their fourth consecutive regular-season CCIW championship last fall. They will face off against the #8 seed and host team, Illinois Wesleyan, in the first quarterfinal match on Friday at 9 a.m. The Titans secured their spot in the quarterfinals by defeating Elmhurst 9-0 on April 14.

Other quarterfinal matches scheduled for Thursday include fourth-seeded Carthage against fifth-seeded Augustana at 11:30 a.m., #2 Wheaton versus #7 Millikin at 2 p.m., and #3 North Park taking on #6 Carroll at 4:30 p.m.

All matches are planned to be played outdoors at the Evergreen Racquet Club, but will move indoors in case of inclement weather. The semifinals will take place on Friday at 10 a.m., with the final two teams competing for the title on Saturday at noon.
