The Charlottesville boys tennis team clinches 4D championship

The Charlottesville boys tennis team emerged victorious in the Region 4D tournament, securing a 5-1 win over Blacksburg in the championship match. The Black Knights, fresh off their first state tournament berth in over 35 years, dominated the regional competition without even needing to play doubles.

Throughout the tournament, Charlottesville displayed their dominance with a 5-0 victory over Sherando in the quarterfinals and another 5-0 win over Handley in the semifinals. Their impressive performance has earned them a spot in the VHSL Class 4 state quarterfinals, where they will face Loudoun Valley on Friday at 2 p.m.

In other sports news, the Albemarle boys soccer team advanced to the Region 5C championship game and secured a spot in the VHSL Class 5 state tournament with a thrilling win over top-seeded James River. The Albemarle girls soccer team also secured a spot in the regional final after a comeback victory over Mills Godwin.

Additionally, the Louisa softball team staged a remarkable comeback, rallying from a 9-2 deficit to secure a 10-9 victory over Clover Hill and clinch a spot in the state tournament. However, the CHS boys soccer team fell short in the Region 4D final, losing 2-0 to Jefferson Forest.

Lastly, the Fluvanna baseball team suffered a 13-3 defeat to Liberty Christian in the Region 3C final, while the William Monroe girls soccer team saw their season come to an end with a 2-1 loss to Fauquier in the Region 3B semifinals.
