The Haven School celebrates the graduation of its inaugural class with a new name | Education

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Haven School, formerly known as D3 My Way Virtual School, is celebrating its inaugural graduating class this year with 33 students set to receive their diplomas. The school, which offers a hybrid approach to education for students in grades K-12, has been providing flexible and individualized learning experiences since its establishment in 2006.

One of this year’s graduates, Nyma Watkins, shared her positive experience at Haven School, citing the flexible times and online class options as key factors in her decision to attend. Watkins emphasized the importance of accommodating students with busy schedules and traveling conflicts, making it easier for them to pursue their education.

Haven School operates primarily using the online program “Accelerate” to provide standardized curriculum, with students having the option to attend in-person classes 1-3 times a week based on their grade level and individual needs. The school’s flexibility allows students to participate in extracurricular activities, internships, and work-based learning off-site while still receiving a quality education.

Principal Caroline Johnson highlighted the unique community and diverse perspectives that Haven School brings together, fostering friendships between students and staff members. With a student-to-staff ratio of 16:1 and flexible meeting times, teachers at Haven School are able to provide more personalized instruction and support to each student.

As Haven School continues to grow in enrollment and exposure, Johnson hopes to see the school’s infrastructure expand to accommodate the increasing number of students. The graduation ceremony for this year’s class will be held on May 17 at the Widefield High School Auditorium, marking a significant milestone for the school and its graduates.
