The Importance of Education Funding in Today’s World

Recent data shows that education budgets in nearly half of lower-income countries have decreased by an average of 14 percent since 2020. Additionally, there has been a decline in foreign aid to education, further underscoring the importance of initiatives like the GPE Multiplier Grant, which leverages additional funding to support education in lower-income countries.

The success of the Smarter Financing for Education initiative is evident in the fact that the GPE has exceeded its financing target for 2025, two years ahead of schedule. However, with demand surpassing expectations, additional resources are urgently needed to support the remaining 37 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
