Taylor Swift’s recent concert in Singapore not only drew in hundreds of thousands of fans but also sparked a new trend in concert tourism. The pop superstar’s “The Eras” concert craze led to a surge in travel bookings to Singapore, with data from travel app Trip.com showing a significant increase in inbound flights, accommodations, and tour bookings during the week of the concert.

The trend of bundling hotel rooms with concert tickets or activities also gained popularity, with Trip.com reporting a 275% increase in Singapore-related bookings during the concert week compared to two weeks later. The platform also noted a shift in demographics, with younger users making up a larger percentage of bookings during the concert week.

Filipinos were among the top buyers of hotel and ticket bundles for Taylor Swift’s concert, according to travel app Klook. Even digital bank GoTyme saw a spike in overseas transactions during the concert period.

The concert tourism trend isn’t limited to Taylor Swift, as evidenced by the rapid sell-out of tickets for IU’s concert in Hong Kong. Trip.com, which served as the priority presale platform for IU’s concert, reported that tickets sold out in just 30 seconds.

Looking ahead, Trip.com expects a similar level of demand for IU’s Singapore concert tickets and plans to expand its concert tourism offerings internationally. The trend of combining music festivals and concerts with travel experiences is expected to continue attracting young travelers.
