The Making of the Latest Audio Show

The New York Times is set to launch a new franchise called ‘The Interview,’ featuring an audio podcast and a print version in The New York Times Magazine. Led by Talk columnist David Marchese and Times audio host Lulu Garcia-Navarro, the show aims to interview the biggest names in culture.

Deputy managing editor Sam Dolnick expressed the need for a flagship audio show that interviews prominent figures, filling a gap in the Times’ content lineup. The Interview will feature a mix of guests, including actors, musicians, politicians, executives, and other interesting personalities.

What sets The Interview apart is its unique format: each subject will be interviewed twice, once in studio and again days later over a phone call or Zoom. This approach allows for a deeper, more nuanced conversation, providing a richer experience for both the interviewer and the subject.
