The New York Times: What Happens If Trump Wins

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a shocking turn of events, Donald Trump and his closest allies are gearing up for a radical reshaping of the American government if he regains the White House in 2025. The former president has outlined a series of controversial plans that include cracking down on immigration, directing the Justice Department to prosecute his adversaries, increasing presidential power, upending America’s trade policies, retreating militarily from Europe, and unilaterally deploying troops to Democratic-run cities.

One of the most alarming aspects of Trump’s agenda is his extreme stance on immigration. If re-elected, he plans to carry out mass deportations, increase the number of agents for ICE raids, build camps to detain immigrants, push for other countries to take asylum seekers from the United States, ban entry from certain Muslim-majority nations, and try to end “birthright citizenship.”

Additionally, Trump intends to use the Justice Department to prosecute his political adversaries, including launching a criminal investigation into President Biden and his family, indicting foes who challenge him politically, and targeting journalists for prosecution.

Furthermore, Trump aims to increase presidential power by bringing independent agencies under his control, reviving the practice of “impounding” funds, stripping employment protections from civil servants, purging officials from intelligence agencies, and appointing lawyers who would support his agenda as lawful.

With these controversial plans in motion, the future of American governance hangs in the balance as Trump and his allies prepare for a potential return to power in 2025.
