Educators and community leaders gathered for a groundbreaking meeting aimed at transforming schools into thriving community hubs in San Diego County. The event, co-hosted by the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) and County of San Diego Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA), brought together nearly 200 attendees including principals, community schools coordinators, and HHSA representatives.
The focus of the meeting was on the community schools strategy, which emphasizes the holistic well-being of students by addressing their academic, social, emotional, physical, and mental needs. The partnership between SDCOE and HHSA aims to create healthy environments where students, families, and community members can thrive.
One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of a new video titled “Thriving Community Schools and the Power of Partnerships,” showcasing the collaborative efforts of SDCOE and HHSA in supporting children and families in San Diego County. The video emphasizes the importance of partnerships in creating opportunities for success.
Participants at the meeting were encouraged to connect with representatives from various organizations, share resources, and align services to better support students and families. The event also featured a showcase of HHSA programs available to schools, including services for academic success, behavioral health, self-sufficiency, and public health.
The meeting concluded with plans for future convenings leading up to the Live Well Advance Conference and School Summit in November. The partnership between SDCOE and HHSA is paving the way for a new era of collaboration and support for students and families in San Diego County.
