The Spurs, led by Devonte’ Graham, shock the Nuggets

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a stunning comeback, the San Antonio Spurs rallied from a 23-point deficit to defeat the Western Conference-leading Denver Nuggets 121-120 on Friday night. Devonte’ Graham sealed the victory with a floater in the lane with just 0.9 seconds remaining, sending the Spurs into a frenzy.

The Nuggets (56-25) fell out of sole possession of first place in the West and now find themselves tied with Oklahoma City and Minnesota. Despite their recent three-game winning streak, Denver’s loss to the Spurs has potentially cost them the top seed heading into the final day of the regular season.

Victor Wembanyama was the star of the night for the short-handed Spurs, recording an impressive 34 points and 12 rebounds. His performance, coupled with Graham’s clutch plays down the stretch, helped San Antonio secure what Wembanyama described as “maybe the biggest win of the season.”

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray led the charge for the Nuggets, but their efforts were not enough to hold off the resilient Spurs. San Antonio, despite missing key players due to injuries, outscored the defending champions 34-20 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

The victory not only lifted the Spurs to a season-high, but it also prevented them from matching the worst record in franchise history. With momentum on their side, San Antonio looks to carry this energy into their upcoming matchup against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.

As for the Nuggets, they will look to bounce back when they face the Memphis Grizzlies in their final regular-season game on Sunday. The loss to the Spurs serves as a wake-up call for Denver as they aim to secure a favorable playoff position in the competitive Western Conference.
