The Swaningers team up with Sedona for educational collaboration

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Sedona Oak-Creek School District Superintendent Tom Swaninger and his wife Jill Sharer have a unique love story that began in high school. The couple, who were born in 1974, started dating during Christmas break in 1992 and have been together ever since.

Both Tom and Jill were high school sweethearts who shared an English class together. Over the years, Jill became an English teacher while Tom pursued a career in school administration. The couple got married in 1999 and have three daughters – Holly, Phoebe, and Macy.

Recently, Jill accepted a job teaching English and creative writing in the Sedona Oak-Creek School District. Tom, on the other hand, reflected on how their professional experience did not fully prepare them for parenthood, but their teaching background has helped them navigate the complexities of raising their daughters.

The family recently relocated to the Village of Oak Creek, where they are adjusting to a new lifestyle. Despite the challenges of moving to a smaller town, the Swaningers are enjoying the outdoor recreation opportunities Sedona has to offer.

Their daughters, Holly, Phoebe, and Macy, are also adapting to the changes. Each daughter has found their own path, with Holly excelling in swimming, Phoebe thriving in school, and Macy pursuing a career in communications.

Overall, the Swaningers are embracing their new life in Sedona, creating new family traditions, and supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. Their story is a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the importance of family bonds.
