The U.S. Fitness Industry Boasts a $22.4 Billion Value

The Health & Fitness Association recently released a groundbreaking report that highlights the significant impact of the health and fitness industry on the economy. The report, which provides state-by-state statistics, showcases the industry’s contributions in terms of job creation, wages, and tax revenue.

According to the report, the health and fitness industry creates 432,942 direct jobs in the country, paying $10.7 billion in direct wages. Additionally, the industry pays $5.29 billion in federal taxes and $5.35 billion in state and local taxes. These numbers underscore the industry’s importance and value to the economy.

Industry suppliers also play a crucial role, creating 60,625 U.S. jobs and paying $4 billion in wages. The report’s findings have been met with enthusiasm by industry leaders, who see it as a valuable tool for advocacy and networking with policymakers.

In addition to the economic impact study, the Health & Fitness Association also provided insights from its 2024 U.S. Health and Fitness Consumer Report. The report reveals that the U.S. has more than 72 million health club and studio members, with Americans paying an average of $59 per month for membership.

The association’s Fly-in and Advocacy Summit, which brings together industry stakeholders and policymakers, will focus on key legislative issues affecting the industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with members of Congress to discuss important bills and initiatives, including the PHIT Act and the Cardiac Arrest Survival Act.

Overall, the data presented in the report underscores the vital role of the health and fitness industry in the country’s economy and the well-being of its citizens. It serves as a powerful tool for advocacy and education, highlighting the industry’s contributions to both physical and mental health.
