A tragic incident unfolded in the community of Lizon in northern Port-au-Prince on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of Davy and Natalie Lloyd, along with Jude Montis, the local director of a mission group, Missions in Haiti Inc. The Lloyds, who were leaving a youth group activity at a church, were targeted by gang members in three trucks, according to a Facebook post by Missions in Haiti.
The Lloyds, who dedicated their lives to helping the children of Haiti through their missionary work, were brutally attacked by the armed gunmen. Davy Lloyd, 23, and Natalie Lloyd, 21, were killed in the ambush, while Montis, a dedicated employee of Missions in Haiti for 20 years, also lost his life in the violent attack.
The organization, founded by Davy’s parents, David and Alicia Lloyd, in 2000, focuses on providing housing, education, and support to vulnerable children in Haiti. The House of Compassion, Good Hope Boys’ Home, and other initiatives have been instrumental in improving the lives of many children in the impoverished nation.
The devastating loss of the Lloyds and Montis has sent shockwaves through the community and beyond. Efforts are underway to transport their bodies back to the United States, where they will be laid to rest. The tragic incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by humanitarian workers in Haiti, where gang violence and instability continue to threaten the lives of those trying to make a difference.
