Thiago Alves announces retirement from combat sports following knockout defeat by Mike Perry at KnuckleMania 4

Thiago Alves, the former UFC fighter and BKFC champion, has officially announced his retirement from professional fighting after his final bout at BKFC KnuckleMania 4. Alves headlined the event in Los Angeles against Mike Perry, but unfortunately, he was knocked out in just 60 seconds with a brutal left hand.

In a post-fight press conference, Alves revealed that he had already been considering retirement and took the fight on short notice after the passing of his mother. Despite the loss, Alves expressed gratitude for his career and the opportunities it provided him.

The 40-year-old fighter leaves behind a legacy with a 23-15 pro MMA record, including a memorable championship bout against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 100. After leaving the UFC, Alves found success in the BKFC ring, winning a decision against Julian Lane and capturing the BKFC gold by finishing Uly Diaz at BKFC 18.
