Wipro, one of India’s leading IT companies, has announced a change in leadership as CEO Thierry Delaporte resigns from his position. Srinivas Pallia, who previously served as the CEO for the Americas 1 area, will take over as the new CEO and Managing Director from April 7.
In a statement, Wipro highlighted Delaporte’s significant contribution to the company’s transformation over the past four years and his decision to step down to pursue other passions outside of the workplace. The company also announced the immediate appointment of Srini Pallia, emphasizing his client-centric approach, growth mindset, strong execution focus, and commitment to Wipro’s values.
Rishad Premji, Chairman of Wipro Ltd, expressed confidence in Pallia’s ability to lead the company during this pivotal moment, citing his integral role in Wipro’s recent transformation. Pallia, in turn, expressed his honor at being chosen to lead Wipro, a company he has been a part of for his entire career. He expressed excitement about building on the foundation laid by Delaporte and leading Wipro towards its next phase of growth.
Delaporte will continue in his role until the end of May to ensure a smooth transition, collaborating closely with Pallia and Premji. With a workforce of over 240,000 associates and a history spanning 78 years, Wipro looks towards a future of growth under Pallia’s leadership.
