The University of Lynchburg men’s lacrosse team put on a dominant performance as they defeated Pfeiffer 24-8 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Hornets, ranked 13th, hosted a pod of four teams for the tournament, including Washington and Lee and Lake Forest.
Five different players recorded hat tricks for Lynchburg, with Riley Hastings leading the way with five points. Finn Schmidt and Spencer Vandenberg each contributed four points to the win. The Hornets never trailed in the game and went on multiple scoring runs to secure the victory.
Defensively, Lynchburg held Pfeiffer to under 10 goals for the 12th time this season. Michael Kraus had a standout performance at the X, going 14-18 on faceoffs and breaking the program record for ground balls in a career.
Goalie Tyler Hadley made five saves to secure his 15th win of the season. Lynchburg now sets its sights on a matchup with the 16th-ranked Washington and Lee team, with a trip to the NCAA quarterfinals on the line.
