Three Blue Raiders selected for Conference USA All-Conference Teams

Middle Tennessee State University’s women’s tennis team received recognition from the Conference USA as Sana Garakani and Ilaria Sposetti were named to the Singles Second Team, with Lena Peyer making it to the All-Freshman Team. The announcement was made by the league office on Wednesday.

Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall expressed her excitement over the recognition, praising the hard work and dedication of the players throughout the season. Garakani, hailing from Lisbon, Portugal, led the team with a 12-8 record from the No. 1 court in singles. She was also named Conference USA Athlete of the Month for November after defeating Louisville’s No. 1 player.

Sposetti, from Tolentino, Italy, secured seven singles wins, including three match clinches against Chattanooga, Alabama A&M, and Troy. Peyer, a native of Meggen, Switzerland, finished the season with 11 singles wins, clinching a crucial victory over Louisville.

The Conference USA also announced its Superlative Awards for the 2024 Women’s Tennis season, with FIU dominating the list. The All-CUSA Singles Second Team included Garakani and Sposetti from MTSU, highlighting their exceptional performances throughout the season.
