Canadian authorities have made a breakthrough in the case of the killing of pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar, with the formal identification and charging of three individuals in connection with the crime. Karan Brar, Kamalpreet Singh, and Karanpreet Singh have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the incident that took place in Surrey, British Columbia on June 18, 2023.

The trio, all in their 20s, were apprehended in and around Edmonton, the capital of the province of British Columbia. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) released a statement confirming the charges against them.

While the arrests mark a significant development in the case, authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing to identify any additional individuals involved in the killing and to establish any potential links to the Government of India. Commander David Teboul emphasized during a press conference in Surrey that the investigation is still active and that efforts are being made to uncover all aspects of the crime.

The suspects are believed to have entered Canada as international students in the past five years and are reportedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The investigation has also revealed a possible Indian connection to the crime, further complicating the case.

As the judicial proceedings are set to begin, the authorities remain committed to pursuing all leads and ensuring that justice is served in the tragic killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The developments in this case have not only shed light on the individuals responsible but also raised questions about the broader implications and motives behind the crime.
